CAT 2011 - An important update
As per media reports, CAT 2011 will be held in a 20 day window between October 22, 2011 and November 18, 2011. The details of this test are expected to be updated on the official CAT website ( wwww.guptaclasses.com ) from August 8, 2011.
According to these reports, there will be some changes in the test structure as given below:
1. CAT 2011 will have only two sections
a. Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
b. Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning.
2. Each section will have 30 questions and will need to be solved in 70 minutes each.
3. Students will not be allowed to move back and forth between sections. In short, CAT will now be a 140 minute – 2 section test with sectional time-limits.
4. The total duration of the test will be 2 hours 35 minutes including a 15 minute tutorial.
Also, the check-in procedure for the test will start 1½ hours before the test instead of 2 hours.
We advise you to wait for an official communication from the CAT convenor, Prof. Janakriraman Moorthy of IIM Calcutta. In any case, there are no changes in the subjects/areas tested in the CAT. We therefore recommend you continue building your conceptual clarity and application skills with the IMS material and SimCATs. The only change, if the above is true, will be to adapt to the new test structure. Rest assured, IMS will make all the necessary changes required in the IMS content to prepare you for the revised CAT.
