Eligibility:
At least a 3-year bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering from a recognised university with a minimum of 55% marks (or equivalent) with Mathematics as a subject of study at the 10 +2 and bachelor’s level.
Format of the question paper and course:
The three (3) hour exam will contain 100 multiple choice questions of one (1) mark each. Each question will have four options.
There will be no subjective question. There will be no negative marking.
Candidates can expect
Twenty (20) questions from Category A
Forty (40) questions from Category B and
Forty (40) questions from Category C
The exam will have multiple-choice questions from the following three categories:
Analytical and Logical Reasoning
Undergraduate level Mathematical Science:
Calculus and Differential Equations; (ii) Linear Algebra and Vector Analysis;
Linear Programming (iv) Algebra and theory of equations (v) Coordinate Geometry and Trigonometry; (vi) Probability and Distributions; and (vii) Statistical Methods
Undergraduate level Computer Science:
Discrete Structures (Sets, Relations, Propositional and Predicate Logic);
Data Structures (Lists, Trees, Graphs);
Algorithms (Sorting and Searching, lementary Time Complexity Analysis);
Boolean Algebra and
Programming in C
Admissions:
Admission to SAU will be through an entrance test that will simultaneously be held in all SAARC countries, scheduled for May 21, 2011.
Seats are reserved for applicants from different SAARC countries in the following manner:
Not more than 50% seats for Indian applicants;
At last 4% seats for applicants from each of the following countries: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka;
About 10% seats for applicants from each of the following two countries: Pakistan and Bangladesh;
About 10% seats will be kept for applicants from outside the SAARC region;
Merit lists will be prepared country-wise and the competition will only be amongst candidates within each country; and
Seats left unfilled for any country may be filled by students from other countries as per SAU rules.
Tuition fees will be highly subsidized and scholarships under different schemes will be available

Please be careful in giving all the required information on the application form. Partially filled forms will not be considered. All required documents must be enclosed.
